About Us
Beginning operation in 1996, the business was formed by Geoff Brown & Jennifer Hawes, starting as G.L Brown & J.A. Hawes. This partnership was a single Tipper operation, starting small in the Whyalla area, simply offering wet hire. Over the years between 1996 & 2007, it formed to be Whyalla Tipper Hire, expanding to up to 4 Tippers. In 2007, Whyalla seen the start of Ocean Eyre take place, and with that come the opportunity for the purchase & hire of Excavators. Because of this, Geoff purchased the first Excavator of the company and expanded the operation.
In 2009, Whyalla Tipper Hire then expanded to be Whyalla Earthworks Pty Ltd. The continual expansion of Industry in Whyalla at this time seen Whyalla Earthworks continue to grow into a diverse company, offering a wide range of machinery such as Excavators, Backhoes, Loaders, Grader, Rollers, Tippers, Water Trucks & Transport services. Continuing on from this, the business has continually expanded throughout the civil & transport industry, becoming a preferred & valued contractor for companies such as Coates Hire, Access Hire, ARTC, Onerail, Nacap & Whyalla City Council. Further to this, Whyalla Earthworks has proved themselves to be preferred for any Rail Line Formation & Corridor works, Solar Farm Builds & Marina Rock Armouring Works.
For many years, Whyalla Earthworks have had a strong community focus and have invested heavily in supporting local Charities, Sporting Clubs & Organisations. With a strong motorsport background, Whyalla Earthworks is driven to continue this support throughout the community wherever possible.
Moving forward to todays business, Whyalla Earthworks has 14 employees, made up of Full Time & Casual, as well as in excess of 30 pieces of equipment, ranging from large excavators to Skidsteers, Tippers, Telehandlers, Graders, Rollers, Tilt Tray Trucks, Semi Dropdeck & 4 Axle Float Trailers just to name a few. In the last 3 years, Whyalla Earthworks has also expanded our scope to include dry hire of equipment to a various range of industries, with the vision to continue this expansion in the years to come.
Aswell as machinery wet & dry hire, Whyalla Earthworks also possesses Labour Hire, Operator Hire & Rail Safeworker Capabilities. Whyalla Earthworks also is able to provide customers and projects the materials and service of Fencing, such as Chainmesh, whether it's 5 metres or 5km. This is also another service we have expanded our scope to cover.
Whyalla Earthworks, from the early times of operation, has always had pride in providing machinery, operators and service with the latest abilities and technology, aswell as continuing to form lasting relationships with our customers that will prosper for years to come.
